Harmony Day is one of the highlights on our school calendar. We have students from 22 different countries of the world, including New Zealand, India, the Philippines, PNG, Nepal and many more. Each country has its distinctive language, food and dress and these will be on show on Harmony Day. In the lead up to the day, our chaplain Steve and our Multicultural Captain Trystan, have been showcasing all these cultures on assemblies each Friday during ‘Multicultural TV’. As Trystan says, ‘We come from many different countries, but we can all get along at Taigum State School’. Harmony Day is all about getting on with each other and to celebrate we will have food –our luncheon; dress – students wearing the national dress of their country; and dance- some groups have been practising for the last few weeks. I look forward to it immensely each year, and this time will be no different.
